Candle Safety Policy
Candle Safety Policy
Objective: This policy aims to ensure the safe use of candles to prevent fire hazards, injuries, or property damage in our environment. It applies to all individuals handling or using candles within the premises.
General Safety Guidelines:
- Candles Should Never Be Left Unattended: Always extinguish candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep.
- Placement of Candles:
- Place candles on stable, heat-resistant surfaces.
- Ensure candles are away from flammable materials such as curtains, papers, or textiles.
- Keep candles at least 3 inches apart from each other to prevent overheating.
- Keep Candles Out of Reach of Children and Pets: Ensure candles are placed in locations where they cannot be knocked over by children or pets.
- Proper Extinguishing: Always use a proper candle snuffer to extinguish candles. Never blow them out to avoid hot wax splattering.
- Burn Candles in a Well-Ventilated Area: Do not burn candles in confined spaces without ventilation.
- Use Appropriate Candle Holders: Ensure candles are placed in holders that are specifically designed for them, which prevent the wax from spilling or the flame from coming into contact with flammable objects.
- Avoid Using Candles Near Airflow: Do not place candles near open windows, air vents, or fans as drafts may cause uneven burning and increase the risk of the flame catching nearby objects.
- Regular Inspection: Inspect candles for any signs of damage or defects, including cracks or frayed wicks, before use.
- Safe Disposal of Candles: After a candle has burned down, allow the holder to cool completely before handling or disposing of it.
Emergency Protocols:
- In Case of Fire:
- Call emergency services immediately (e.g., 911).
- Use a fire extinguisher or fire blanket if the situation permits.
- Evacuate the area calmly and quickly if necessary.
- Report Any Safety Concerns: If you notice any safety hazards related to candles (e.g., unattended burning candles or faulty candle holders), report it to the responsible authority immediately.
Compliance: By using candles on the premises, all individuals must adhere to the safety procedures outlined in this policy. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action
